News Good Morning, News!

Posted by Amy J. Ruiz on Mon, Mar 24 at 8:41 AM

Is the slump over? Sales of existing homes went up almost 3 percent last month.

bunnybush.jpgPresident George Bush is sad, mourning the deaths of 4,000 US soldiers to date in Iraq. But hey, host an Easter Egg Roll and hug a giant bunny, and it’s all okay!

Sho Dozono is announcing this morning at 11 am whether he plans to stay in the mayor’s race or drop out. Place your bets, and check Blogtown to see if you’re right!

Angry over China’s treatment of Tibet, protesters disrupted this weekend’s Olympic torch ceremony.

“Three Oregon environmental groups are calling on state transportation and land-use commissions to set goals and adopt policies that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by cutting back on car and truck travel in the state.” Hey, let’s build a giant auto bridge across the Columbia River! (Which reminds me—Debate Club, tomorrow night, on the Columbia River Crossing. 7 pm, Edge of Belmont.)

Being the first one in the office has its advantages. You find things like this on the doorstep:

I think the peep was in a noose, but ended up decapitated by morning. The sign on the bottom says “Happy Easter. Goodnight.”

That's a pretty crappy noose.

But I guess psychotic hipsters who do stupid pseudo-art crap never were in the Boy Scouts.

OR..was it an EXCELLENT noose? The kind of noose tying taught only in Secret Ninja Scouts which tortures and kills peeps by slowly slicing their heads off?

Just something to think about.

4000 dead, that total hit this Easter Sunday, yet the corporate media still keeps it's mention of the war candy coated, the surge is working, nothing to see here, go about your business. They are even saying the war is not an issue for November.
Hell it isn't, the lives lost and maimed affect us all. The human cost & the financial cost. Three trillion dollars and counting, it's affecting our economy, and the world resents arrogance as well. Trade with other countries is down as a result of this and other trade policies.
The war does matter and 'IS' an issue with most people I know regardless how much the corporate owned media machine tells us otherwise.
I draw a weekly political cartoon and devoted this week to this sad anniversary, it's up on my website now for any who might wish to check it out.

WRT the photo:

I liked the version with Jimmy Stewart better.

@ Kiala:

I honestly didn't think of that. I wasn't allowed to join the Ninja Scouts. Actually, we couldn't find the Ninja Scouts. That's the toughest part of joining. Finding them.

@ What Now Toons:

How many Peeps have to die for your oil before you'll stop saying stupid shit? Stupid fucking spammer. DIAF.

graham, most agressive aren't you?

WNT: Graham isn't the first to complain about your borderline spam comments. You should really keep that in check. It's obnoxious.

Graham won't be the last either. The comments don't bother me, but it seems like you're just trying to hawk your shit on a blog. Kinda' lame..please stop. We know where to find you and don't like being reminded.

so i won't ask people to look at toons anymore, how's that?

@ WNT:

Maybe if your posts didn't look like spam. I was with your post up until you said "and in related news, MY website"

The URL field you fill out when commenting should be enough. If I liked what someone said, I'll check out their link.

Also, anyone who says that the media isn't paying attention to the war is just wrong. Maybe they're not covering the parts that you care about... but they're covering it.

They're covering the part that sells the concept that the surge is working, not the two thirds of America that oppose it. Of course when Cheney was asked about the two thirds of opposition, his reply was " so!".
I care that the war is reported not as propaganda but as a reality.
Watch Frontline tonight for some real news.
And by the way....oh nevermind. ( see I'm learning. )
