1.THINK OUT LOUD-TASTIC!!! Guests from law enforcement and the mental health community will be on OPB’s current affairs show will be talking about the legacy of James Chasse’s death this morning at 9am. You might like to tune in and hear what they all have to say. I’m sure it will be fascinating.

JAMES CHASSE: Discussed on OPB this morning…
2.OBAMATASTIC!!! Barack makes a speech in Philadelphia on “forming a more perfect union,” seeking to address issues of race and religious division that have been dogging his campaign over recent days.
3.BEATLETASTIC!!! A judge has ordered the publication of a divorce settlement between Heather Mills and former beatle, Sir Paul McCartney. Mills wanted 125 million pounds. She got 25 million, because she’s an alleged looney psycho ex-high-class-hooker bitch. Objectively speaking. And I don’t even like Paul McCartney.
4.STOCKMARKETTASTIC!!! The Dow roars back on the strength of better-than-expected earnings for two major firms. Too bad my money’s already under the mattress. Oh well…
5.MINGHELLATASTIC!!! Or maybe not. He’s dead.
Good day.
Here were a few interesting comments from the OPB discussion:
Will from NE Portland, who is seriously depressed and has been diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder:“When Chasse died it made me think I’m just one day away from the slab. I have one bad day and an unfortunate walk through the pearl district, and I’m dead as Chasse was. It was not an ‘encounter’ with a mentally ill person. It was a pursuit that was completely out of proportion to any crime Mr.Chasse was suspected of.”
“We don’t want someone in our ranks who is heavy-handed, who uses excessive force. We won’t tolerate that,” said Raul Ramirez, a Sheriff. “You have to not be an individual that relies on using their authority.”
“Police officers are a bunch of really good people trying to do the best job that they can, and sometimes we get demonized by situations that happen. And from my experience, police officers really do the best job that they can, and are not out to harm people in any unethical way,” said Sara Westbrook, a Lt. with the Portland Police Bureau, who redesigned the Portland Police Bureau's crisis intervention training in the wake of Chasse's death.
