I love Katu. They’ve just covered my story from this week, about a whistleblower cop fired from the police bureau. I fucking love that they’ve covered it, and pretty much verbatim as I wrote it, too. All the other media in town have ignored the story…which is sad, because it’s a strong one, and it’s sad that petty rivalries get in the way of the public hearing the truth.
We don't know anything, Lyle, because the bureau doesn't comment on pending lawsuits.
To my knowledge the officers against whom the allegations are being made are all still working for the bureau.
Are you saying you write the truth, Matt? Since when?
Well, its well known what happens when an officer crosses the 'thin blue line'.
ps:GET RID OF THOSE TALKING ADS!
Matt:
Internal Affairs has to disclose open investigations. They have to give you case numbers, date initiated, name of the person being investigated and, at the end, whether a complaint was sustained or not.
So while you couldn't find out who filed the complaint or get a copy of it, for example, you could check to see if an officer had an open investigation into their behavior and check the time it began against the events in the tort claim or to date *on* the tort claim.
Circumstantial, sure, but helpful.
I doubt "petty rivalries" is to blame as much as incompetence.

matt, do you know if the police bureau is doing an investigation of the claims that she made against her training officer and the supervisor that she reported his behavior to who essentially told her to blow it out her ass?
or is this purely just a lawsuit against the city at this point?
i said this a few weeks ago when you originally reported this, but if you can concretely prove a police officer has threatened to not provide backup to someone for any reason, or stated that other officers will not provide backup, that should be be something you are immediately terminated for.
