So the folks at Bridge City Comics are aiming to bring Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation to the Hollywood Theatre on April 18 and 19. If you haven’t heard about the adaptation, it’s a shot-for-shot remake of the original Raiders… made by three 12-year-old kids. This BBC story does a pretty solid job showing off the appeal of the flick, which took the kids six years to make.
Looks like a lot of fun, right? Only one problem: Sounds like one of the event’s sponsors has pulled out, so the screening’s organizers are on the lookout for some new ones. (The Mercury’s already sponsoring.) The event’s for a good cause, according to Bridge City Comics’ Matt Christenson.
Because it’s a non-profit event, all ticket sales go to the Austin Miller Scholarship Fund at Film Action Oregon. Austin Miller was an amazing 15-year-old filmmaker who was struck and tragically killed while riding his bicycle back in February. And the event hopes to honor Austin and keep him in our memory by supporting other young filmmakers. It’s an amazing cause and to make sure everything’s a go, we still need a couple more sponsors.
So there you go: If you’re in a position to help make the screening happen—or just want more info—hit whatwouldindydo.com.
well, on first reading, I thought one of the kids who made the film had been killed. It would be good to clarify this. at any rate, super boss that this is finally coming to the left coast - i've wanted to see it since I first heard about it in '03.
