So we could all get riled up about something we don’t really know anything about yet, or we could wait a little while and actually see the film in question. Or we could at least watch the preview.
Here’s our first look at the new trailer for Tropic Thunder, which stars Ben Stiller, Jack Black, and Robert Downey, Jr.—and yes, Robert Downey, Jr. (who is pretty much excellent 100 percent of the time—Zodiac! A Scanner Darkly! Wonder Boys! Back to School! Hopefully Iron Man!) plays a white actor who’s playing a black character. Overall, I think this thing looks like a pretty straightforward Three Amigos redux—but shit, who doesn’t like Three Amigos? Anyway, I like the trailer, and it actually gives me some hope that—after what feels like an eternity of Meet the Fockers bullshit—there might actually be a Ben Stiller comedy worth watching again. Thoughts?
Agreed, Jake. His word is gold.
This doesn't look funny enough, but it's hard to tell from a trailer.
