Election 2008 BREAKING: Dozono’s Back Rent Situation Heads to the City Attorney’s Office

Posted by Amy J. Ruiz on Wed, Apr 30 at 2:22 PM

On my way from city hall to Bush Gardens Restaurant—where Sho Dozono has scheduled a 3 pm press conference to “discuss the Bush Garden Restaurant,” in light of recent reports that he’s over $18,000 behind in rent, tax and fee payments to the city—I stopped into the Portland Building to talk to the city staffers on the case. I needed to get caught up on the details myself.

Tom Feely, the city’s Senior Business Operations Manager, told me that their department had just decided to forward the case to the City Attorney to “pursue whatever legal remedy is available to recover the amount due.” In other words, the city is about to sue one of the top two mayoral candidates.

That’s news so fresh that Feely says Dozono has probably not yet been notified.

On to the press conference…
