Today, Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski and Secretary of State Bill Bradbury held an event on the steps of Pioneer Courthouse Square to highlight global climate change. Note: Tomorrow is Earth Day. Partnered with the Sierra Club, Bill and Ted challenged all Oregonians to clean up their act and adopt greener technology.
In the speech, Governor Kulongski said:
This Earth Day I challenge all Oregonians to do their part in solving the greatest challenge in out time - global climate change. We have shown that it’s possible to fight global warming while investing in our economy and creating new jobs.
Secretary of State Bradbury added:
The technology exists now to move us beyond oil and coal to a clean enery future driven by wind, solar, and other renewable sources of power, along with cost-saving energy efficient buildings, cars and appliances.

Bill and Ted want Oregon to lead the way in reducing greenhouse gases and developing alternative energy. Indeed, Oregon has vowed to get 25% of it’s electricity from renewable sources by 2025.
The Sierra Club has put forth a 5 point plan where, among other things, they recommend that all states get 20% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2020 (20 states have already signed on).
Yeah, but you only got the Secretary of State's name right 50 percent of the time, Jonathan.
The interns care about Earth Day, if nobody else at the Merc does ...
I knew you were cool, Jonathan.
