Does anybody know this guy’s story? I actually haven’t seen him for awhile, and was getting a little worried about him. I’m glad to see he’s still around!

Don't know much about him other then he has been doing this for atleast a few years now and I have also seen him on a cable access show.

Seems like an interesting guy, who always has a smile for passing people. You guys should do a story on him, would be nice to know about him!

Don't talk smack about my dad.

Looks like he has a street sign growing out of his head.

He's regularily on the corner of Burnside & 12th, on that sculpture median

i've seen him walking home a few times. Despite being super cheery when he's performing, he always looks miserable. I hope he's okay.

He plays the corner of 37th and Hawthorn on weekends, too.

That's "Working" Kirk. I had a nice long conversation with him last year about the Sit-Lie law and laws associated with street musicians.

...and got his life story. He was a computer engineer, then fear of Y2K convinced him to quit, and he started playing the trumpet. He's self-taught, if you can believe it.

Here's his life story.

And, uhhhh, here he is interviewing Neil Hamburger.

He has been playing in the evening at the Hawthorne Bridge, rain or shine and always brings a smile to my face cause he just seems so happy.

I was worried about him too! Remember how he wore a gryffindor scarf at the Harry Potter release Party? Smart man. I wonder why he's not by Powell's anymore. Did he get in a turf war with elvis?

Guess you haven't been going over the Hawthorne Bridge much headed East at rush hour cuz that's where he's been virtually every day for the last couple of months.

I can believe he's self taught. I used to work near a place he played often and I thought my ears were going to bleed out. If I hear "It's a Small World" played on a trumpet one more time I cannot be blamed for what happens.

he used to play outside my office too, and it would be the same song for 3 weeks. seems like a nice guy, but i am sure glad he is playing to rush hour traffic now.

His name is Kirk Reeves and he is an awesome guy. Gwenn Seemel did a really lovely portrait of him a while ago:
