Election 2008 More Party Updates!

Posted by Wm. Steven Humphrey on Tue, May 20 at 8:50 PM

• Harold Williams II, who is running for Erik Sten’s vacated seat, is celebrating at The Huddle on Killingsworth, with six of his friends watching basketball. Boston vs. Detroit. And Boston’s winning. Mmmm… go Boston?

• Ned is at the Kennedy School for Nick Fish’s party where the crowd is going hog wild over Fish’s progress tonight. His wife just spoke, though Nick has yet to take the mike. Shouldn’t be long now. Food: Chips, salsa and guacamole. Plus cous cous and of course, Goldfish crackers. GET IT?? GOLD? FISH??? Ahh… forget it.

• Drew reports in from the Charles Lewis party at his campaign headquarters on Killingsworth, where there’s FREE BEER!! Woot! Oh, and the crowd is also fairly pleased with how well Charles is doing in the returns as well. But did we mention FREE BEER?!?

• Patrick just left Mike Fahey’s party (he’s currently WAY behind Amanda Fritz and Charles Lewis for the city commish spot) at Nicola’s Pasta and Pizza in St. Johns. While three rooms were packed earlier, the crowd has dwindled to 20, after seeing the returns. Mike remains genial and characteristically upbeat, saying, “I won’t be throwing myself off the St. John’s bridge.” He added that he only spent $20,000 on his campaign and will be using the rest of the night to calculate how much each vote cost him. Next up for Mike? Working on the drop-out problem in North Portland, and taking his motor home down to Mexico! Muy Caliente!

Neil Diamond

After canceling his September performance in Portland, Neil Diamond is back and ready to blow us out of our seats! Fine, maybe he won’t “blow us,” but I bet he’ll come to the stage locked and loaded with hits such as “Cherry, Cherry,” “Sweet Caroline,” and “I’m a Believer.” And does anybody remember “Heartlight”? I do! WSH
