Election 2008 No Sore Feelings From the Branam Camp

Posted by Marjorie Skinner on Tue, May 20 at 10:47 PM

Nah, hell no:

On the top: Beth Roberts, campaign field manager, who says, “The thing I’ve been proud of and that I think comes out tonight is that we didn’t spend our money on mailers, and a lot of the campaigns did. Hopefully we proved that a grassroots candidacy can work.”

Bottom left: Phil Busse, campaign manager—”We’re all winners… And, it was a good race! Its really exciting to have four publicly funded candidates packed in ‘fudgedly tightly’ [Phil’s had a couple, too.—Ed.].”

Bottom right: Dan Anderson, press secretary—”We tried to meet as many people as possible; the idea of this race was a lot of candidates represented a lot of Portlanders, and that obviously came true: We’ve got five candidates who came within tens of votes of one another.”

Comments

I had a hard time deciding who to vote for. At the City Club debate, John Branam made a very definite and intentional effort to flirt with me from across the room. He is completely adorable, there's no doubt. He wanted my vote, no doubt. Would I do him? No doubt, as long as my husband could take pictures and blog about it...

But, my husband liked the "wonk", and so did I. So I/we voted for the wonk.

"We didn't spend our money on mailers, because we'd already spent it all on Phil?"

Hey, all that money spend on Phil brought the campaign to the attention of people who wouldn't have heard of it otherwise.

By which I mean the controversy, not anything Phil was doing with his money.

Is that Beth girl in the photo attached? She is a hottie!

Single and unemployed. Call me?

I would if I had your number. You are hot!

Neil Diamond

After canceling his September performance in Portland, Neil Diamond is back and ready to blow us out of our seats! Fine, maybe he won’t “blow us,” but I bet he’ll come to the stage locked and loaded with hits such as “Cherry, Cherry,” “Sweet Caroline,” and “I’m a Believer.” And does anybody remember “Heartlight”? I do! WSH
