Powell’s seems to be testing our mass-transit savvy lately, with a slew of big-name author readings at the Cedar Hills store. Jane Smiley in April, Salman Rushdie in June, and tonight, Armistead Maupin, who will read from Michael Tolliver Lives, just out in paperback, which revisits his Tales of the City characters twenty years later.
Tonight, 7pm Powell’s Books at Cedar Hills Crossing, 3415 SW Cedar Hills, Beaverton
I loved that book! It made me cry in public a little bit. Probably won't go all the way to Beaverton to see him though.
Why do they keep scheduling these fantastic authors only on one side of town? Is the Hawthorne store going to get, say, Philip Roth and Zadie Smith to compensate?
Hail Zwischenstadt!
