TV The Lost Seven Minutes from the Season Finale of Lost

Posted by Wm. Steven Humphrey on Fri, May 30 at 11:01 AM

You’re not going to freaking believe this: So I’m watching the two-hour season finale of Lost last night, AND AT A VERY CRITICAL MOMENT, my DirecTV service flashes up an onscreen card that said, “We realize that we’ve lost transmission of this station, and are working to correct it. Please don’t call.”

WHAT THE FAWK?!? Naturally, I called anyway and said, “Just so you know, I’m not calling about how your stupid satellite service is screwing up the season finale of Lost. I’m calling to ask what you plan to do about REMOVING MY FOOT FROM YOUR ASS!”

Anyhoo, I “lost” about seven minutes from the Lost finale, and have no idea what happened. To avoid spoilers, after the jump, I’ll tell you what was happening when my service blinked out, and when it came back on—SO CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED?

Oh, and be sure to post and answer each others’ questions/theories about last night’s finale in the comments below!

Okay, so when my TV blinked out, the freighter had just exploded and the helicopter was heading back toward the island. Also, after totally effing up the Orchid Station by putting a ton of metal into their microwave, Ben is putting on his winter coat and claiming he's going somewhere cold. When my service came back on, presumably dead Claire was screaming at dreaming Kate "DON'T TAKE AARON BACK TO THE ISLAND!" (Nag, nag, nag.)

SO? WHAT HAPPENED TO THE HELICOPTER AND BEN?

Comments

The helicopter ran out of fuel again and crashed in the ocean. All aboard were rescued by a boat on which was Penny Widmore.

It crashed in the ocean and no on the island because Ben went into a cold icy cave, turned a giant cog wheel or some such thing and the island, um, well it vanished completely.

IT'S CATURDAY!!!

POST SOME FUCKING CATS!!!

Ben moved the island.

I'm confused about who's dead. Not everyone who was on the island, apparently (Ben and John).

Ben fell down a ladder into a frozen cave and bloodied his shoulder. But he struggled on in a valiant heroic, yet at the same time evil weenieish manner and turned a big cog around. Did you see how Sawyer swam up to the beach to join Julianne doing a Johnny Depp drinking a bottle of rum imitation? They and anyone else on the island vanished into thin air.

Hurley told the people on the plane that Locke moved the island. Then the helicopter crash landed because they were out of fuel again. Desmond almost died but he was revived by Jack. (I'm not a doctor but I don't think that chest compressions really pump water out, I think they are for circulating blood.) Everyone got life preservers and got into a spacious life raft.

Did you see the rescue by Penny and the decision to leave the Portugese boat and take a raft to a different island?

There's no reason for ANYONE on the island to be dead at the moment. It's the people on the freighter (which would include Michael and Jin) that presumably are dead.

Okay, so you could just watch it on ABC's website but I'll try to sum it up. Since they jump back and forth and I smoke too much weed, I may be a bit sketchy on the minutiae. The helicopter is heading back to the island, Sun is screaming. Cut to the island where Ben goes even further down into the back of the chamber, it;s really cold, he starts turning this big wheel thing and then everything gets all white/purple like it did that one time in season 2(Ben says the price he must pay for moving the island is that he won't be able to return, I'm assuming this is what happens right before he wakes up in the desert). Cut back to the helicopter where they witness the island disappear *plink*. They have nowhere to land, the copter runs out of fuel but they toss out an inflatable raft and they all manage to get into it after the bird goes down. Hopefully I didn't leave out much. That thing with Claire REALLY freaked me out. And truly, you missed the best scene where the island disappears. Seriously, go to the LOST website and watch it.

I think that the ones who were on the island have gone to a time-space continuum where they are living out their days/hiding from the big conspiracy group that wants to see them dead.

My questions: What's the deal with Locke/Jeremy Benthem thing

Why the fawk was Clare there in Aaron's room?

Who killed Sayid's wife and why?

Thanks guys! I'm just glad I didn't miss that fight scene between Sayid and Keamie! It was KICK ASS!

Sayid's dreamy. Too bad he's shacked up with Barbara "Beaches" Hershey.

So there's obviously some crazy time-traveling stuff going on here. Remember when that one Other went to Locke's house when was like 6 and gave him some sort of test? That dude is still around.

And what the hell is up with Jack and Claire's dad showing up at the last second in the boat?

This show is just turning into randomness now.

But I did love watching Sayid beat the crap out of that stupid mercenary.

Keamy's dreamier.

There are also two other endings, ya know. They filmed three different versions so that not even the actors/crew would know what plot would really happen until it actually aired last night. I'm sure the two other alternate endings are floating around the interwebs somewhere today.

Awww crap. I just went and watched the alternate endings on youtube, and they're literally only for the last five seconds of the show. Bleh. Instead of Locke in the casket, one ending shows Sawyer, and the other shows Desmond. But since it's not really Locke in the casket anyway... no biggie.

Who looks best dead?

Wait! What? Where was Claire? Also, I thought Jin had visited his wife in the hospital but was undercover.

I don't know about Jin visiting Sun in the hospital...

But Claire came to Kate in a dream.

Dear DirectTV;

You misunderstood the episode with Jin visiting a baby. the way it was cut it was seeming like Jin was getting the Panda for his baby but really that was from the past and he was getting a Panda for the daughter of a business associate pre-Oceanic flight. It was intercut with scenes from his wife having her baby after getting off the island without Jin.

I have hope that Jin was rescued at the last minute by trained, teleporting Dharma Initiative dolphins.

Jin's dead baby, Jin's dead.

read the lostpedia.com

and as anyone who's watched the entire series knows, very little is random... there is a purpose for EVERYTHING you see, so writing it off as random just because you don't get it now is dumb
