News What A Quiet, Uneventful Weekend

Posted by Matt Davis on Sun, May 11 at 7:36 PM

What a weekend to go to the coast. You’ll be pleased to hear I played two golf courses, one called Quail Valley, and one called Alderbrook, and ate a whopping great crab at Nehalem. My golf game is improving immeasurably, actually. Meanwhile all hell breaks loose with the homeless protest outside city hall.

Thanks so much to Amy Ruiz for covering the protest with such gusto in my absence. Honestly, this is one of the reasons I love being on the Mercury’s news team…the pair of us are genuinely fired up about this city and what’s going on here. At my old paper, something would happen on a weekend and nobody would pick it up. It’s good to know that Amy is there and willing to jump on the story for your benefit. Go Mercury news team! Yay!

Plus, newsworthy: The Homeless Liberation Front has a website! You’ll notice much of the coverage on there is from the Mercury. Just saying. Who works hardest to bring you round the clock coverage of the issues that matter? Amy Ruiz. That’s who. Did I mention my golf game is improving immeasurably? Good.

Homeless Liberation Front? The folks at city hall better hope that the folks out front don't start exercising ALL of their civil rights. The first amendment is great, but the second seems more like it if you want to invoke the true spirit of the founders:

Quail Valley is an underrated gem.

Matt, shut up about yourself already. This isn't your diary, you aren't a good enough writer for anyone to care about your personal life. Just let Amy do the talking for the Portland Mercury's news team. Save us the drivel, it's not remotely clever or funny, ok?

Anyone who makes someone who calls himself "Buckmanite" this angry is okay with me.
