This would definitely fall under the category of soft science, but its interesting nonetheless. Some dudes conducted some studies in an attempt to come up with a formula for what music was most liked by the most people (these are the same people that came up with The Most Annoying Song Ever a couple of months back). Their aim was to create:
A musical work that will be unavoidably and uncontrollably liked by 72 12% of listeners.
The result is saxes and Barry fucking Manilow. Listen to it here!
Fucking yikes. It's like that last song from Dirty Dancing, only 1,000 times worse. If anybody is from the Bay Area, you will recognize this as classic 96.5 music (KOIT, Lite Rock, Less Talk) which is easily one of the Bays top stations. Im less familiar with Portlands radio stations (unless Im in the mood for Madonnas "__ Minutes" song, which is often) but I think that describes KINK FM, from what Ive heard.
I have no clue if these guys did this tongue-in-cheek. I sincerely hope so.
"Could it be you're exactly like me?"
That song made me laugh, but I didn't like it.
