Food Moving the Voodoo

Posted by Patrick Coleman on Mon, Jun 2 at 11:51 AM

Last Friday, Voodoo Doughnut tied up traffic on Burnside as they marched from their first location in downtown to their brand spanking new location, Voodoo Doughnut Too at 1501 NE Davis.

Cutting the ribbon

I caught the doughnut parade on the east side of the Burnside bridge. It was lead by the Last
Regiment of Syncopated Drummers and resembled a kind of New Orleans funeral march. I think that’s what they were going for, considering the secret mojo doughnut grease was being transported to the new shop in a coffin.

Once the parade arrived at the new location and the ribbon was cut, a doughnut frenzy beyond all known proportions ensued. Then, I was totally dissed by Tres Shannon after welcoming him to the neighborhood on behalf of the Mercury and trying to give him my card. But who knows, maybe he was just frazzled by all the festivities. Or maybe he has something against business cards.

At any rate, the new place is kind of charming and odd in that Voodoo way. From the right angle it has that Swiss ski chalet feel, but no real facade to speak of as yet.

You’ll find some more pictures from the parade after the jump. We’ll keep you updated.

Huh, I was hoping the move would be a good occasion for them to get some NEW grease. What is it? four years now with the same old grease? That ain't right.

Can someone tell me if Voodoo is moving locations or if this is just the opening of a second location?

a second location

I thought the name Voodoo Donut "Too" was a dead giveaway that it was a second location.

Unless it means part too. "Move" tends to imply a change of location.
