Music Lackthereof - "Last November"

Much like last year when Menomena's Friend And Foe became a year-long (longer, actually) obsession of mine, Lackthereof's Your Anchor has taken over my stereo these past few months. The band is barely a band, instead it's just a complete solo project from Menomena drummer (and the tallest man in Portland who is not named Joel Przybilla) Danny Seim, who is credited as doing "everything" on the record.

While most solo records from a band's drummer might remind you of this, Your Anchor is a deliberate and natural extension of Menomena's skewed art-pop charm. It's rich with subtle details, more than a few devastating lyrics, and permeates with an inspiring and creative undercurrent. We're covering it more in the coming weeks (the release show is the 17th at Holocene, and the record will be in stores on the 22nd), but for now, here's a sneak peek...
