Trailer: Terminator: Salvation.

Terminator: Salvation--next summer's new Terminator film, the one that's supposed to kick off a whole new trilogy, and the one that stars Christian Bale and is directed by the ever-reliable Joseph McGinty Nichol--now has a teaser.

This thing was supposed to premiere this weekend in front of The Dark Knight (our review of that film will be posted later today), but it looks like they've decided to bust it out a bit early. The teaser's short and it's vague, but I really like the style of it: There's something pretty great about the way the teaser uses that familiar music, and it's really well cut, giving a solid impression of the tone without showing too much. (Or, really, anything at all.) For fuck's sake, considering it's a PG-13 Terminator directed by McG, it doesn't look nearly as terrible as it should.

The YouTube is posted below The studio has annoyingly yanked all the YouTube versions of the trailer, because they don't understand how people watch trailers these days, so instead you'll have to head over to head over to Yahoo! Movies to check it out.

judging from that very last "boogeyman behind you!" last shot I'd say they've made Aliens again. but this time, they're like, robotic. great.

Bale has a good record so far picking scripts--I'm guessing this isn't going to suck.

I despise the Terminator movies, but I would pay good money to just watch Christian Bale fold his laundry, so I'll probably go see this.

Positive: Christian Bale, Negative: McG, Positive: Robots who kill without remorse and have reeeaalllly creepy red eyes that glow in the dark, Negative: PG-13....Oh yeah and the last one was the worst thing i had ever seen until I watched the latest Indian Jones.

I've never understood the hate for McG as a director. The Charlie's Angels movies aren't supposed to be cinéma vérité or anything, but they're fun movies to watch. Even his exterior establishing shots have more interesting things going on than in most movies.

Sarah Connor Chronicles (surprisingly) kicks a lot of ass so I'm somewhat ambivalent about a new movie unless they do something totally different. I'm hoping Bale plays John Connor and it's set in the future world of Skynet. Although it would be pretty hilarious to see a saggy old Schwartzenegger terminator.
