Nintendo Reveals New DS with Camera, MP3 Playback

Nintendo has finally revealed their next handheld, an evolution of the Nintendo DS that will include a built-in camera, an upgraded wi-fi antenna and music playback functionality. The new, unnamed system will hit Japan this year, and set Japanese gamers back around $190.

Where's the gag? There isn't one. This is normally where I'd wax cynical about Nintendo further molesting my wallet, but in the end I'll probably get one of these for free by virtue of my otherwise useless doctorate in "Writing About Videogames."

If I was you people though -- let's dub you "the proletariat" -- I'd be fucking livid. Slaves in Ancient Rome revolted over not being fed enough and being punched in the face while sleeping; have we become so apathetic as a society that we're unwilling to show the same kind of fervor?

Like I said, I'm going to continue to smile and whistle Disney tunes, but the rest of you should TOTALLY throw a brick through something. Maybe a window.

What exactly are you angry about? That Ninty is releasing an upgraded version of a system?

I'm angry about nothing, I just think the world needs more riots. If we can't revolt against our government then maybe we should get pissed about a $190 piece of plastic.

Vive le revolucion!
