The Chocolate Man cometh

So what are you doing this weekend? Do you like chocolate? Do you have disposable income totaling between $35 and $78?

Okay, so that last one is the clincher. But if you answered "nothing," "hells yes," and "absofuckinlutely" to those three questions, consider the Heathman for tomorrow night's chocolate dinner, or Saturday's chocolate tea.

The dinner and tea are hosted by the man Gourmet magazine has called "the Picasso of chocolate," Michael Recchiuti of San Fransisco. Now, I'm not sure how cubism plays into cocoa, but the menu does look pretty damn good:

Savory sweet chocolate macaroon
Cracked peppercorn cone with yogurt cucumber sorbet and candied lime peel
Torchon of Foie Gras with sweet and sour cherries, nocturne jelly, and orange-black pepper brioche.
Mole of Guinea Hen with juniper butter stuffed breast
Confit of Berkshire pork with pasilla negro chilies and coco nibs steamed in a banana leaf.
Brown butter and toast infused white chocolate mousse served with pan seared caramel apples
Petit fours of chocolate, coffee and tea

The Saturday tea features drinking chocolates—which have always seemed like a strange thing to me—as well as the following morsels:

Assorted Chocolates
Cocoa Nib Macaroons
Chocolate Éclairs
Fiorelli cookie (shortbread filled with vanilla bean pastry cream and toasted almonds)
Toasted Coconut Macaroons
Myer Lemon Custard Tart

So yeah, you love chocolate, but now you need to ask yourself... "How much do I like chocolate?"
