Crime How Much Does Portland Heroin Cost?

The article I wrote in last week's paper about Portland having the purest heroin in the nation (we're number one!) is attracting some interesting comments:

I am a junkie, 14 months clean. I have done a lot of Portland heroin, and I can safely say that 90 percent of it pretty weak compared to the rest of the west coast, east coast, vancouver, BC etc. Ask any junkie who has moved here and they will tell you the same. If cops think the heroin here is stronger and that overdoses are more common because of that "fact", then Portland drug unit has some catching up to do. Heroin here typically runs $30-40 a gram whereas decent stuff typically sells for $80 plus in my experience.

i am a junkie, 8 days clean. and I have done a lot of Portland heroin, as well as heroin all up and down the west coast, and I can safely say that the skag in portland is the best i've ever come across. i don't know where the previous poster copped his dope, but i had 3 connections from various parts of portland (one from vancouver, wa), all with very high quality shit... my 3 years of dope use in portland, i've never seen a gram go for as cheaply as $30-40, in fact the best deal i got was basically $100 for 8 balloons which were about .10-.15 grams each.

who said this and what were they basing this on? the next accurate statement I hear from a vice cop will be the first one.

uhh clearly misinformed. east coast heroin (specifically NJ) is the most pure according to the DEA and has been so for several years. the main port of entry for the entire country is the port of newark and thus reaches the hands of fiends with much less cut than is added through transportation. the type of heroin must also be distinguished (tar vs. #4 powder) because #4, typically not available on the west coast but recently showing up, is usually of a much higher purity. drug and vice unit have a compelling interest to make a claim - more fear = more money. i would do a bit of outside research beforehand. similarly - what would a local drug and vice unit have as a comparison? high overdose levels more likely point to a cut with a drug such as fentanyl (synthetic drug more cheaply produced than heroin) than a high level of purity. in addition, the only reason that NJ receives such high purity heroin is because of the fact that it is the entry port for most cartels. i highly doubt that portland is the main port of entry for the west coast - california has much more traffic in its ports and is easier to smuggle drugs into. looking at pure numbers, california has much higher amounts of the drug seized than oregon, close to 20x more. please don't take the word of people who have a personal interest in the matter at hand. do a bit of research and save yourself some embarassment.

ummmm I don't know what you guys are talking about but different places in the us are ports to different types of dope. like sure in NJ tons of dope comes from over seas and whatnot but I live in texas and i can say without a doubt that all the black tar junk here comes straight from mexico. I say this for a few reasons powdered dope is just not avaliable and black tar is really a mexican way of making dope while powder is a more asian way of doing it. the dope i get here is not nearly as good as what i got in china (powder) but is much better than the dope i got in san francisco (cut up bullshit). I really think you guys are kinda dumb thinking that a cartel would import dope to NJ to send it all the fucking way to texas when they could just bring it over the border. or that they would bring it from over seas or over border on the west coast to drag it all the way out to middle america. you got to understand that the best dope in the country will either be in a costal city or mexican border state becuase a drug cartel doesn't pick one place but many to get their product over.

The above guy was right. In Portland the best cost I've heard about is 8 balloons for $100 but actually received personally was 7 for $100. But I'm going through someone, and they need to take care themselves, so maybe that's where the 1 goes. I live in downtown Portland, and know, well, everyone on the street. If you're on dope in Portland then you probably know me as well...

I'm in San Francisco at the moment, and the street price here is $30/gram, which is excellent for me (woohoo!). However, I am 7 days clean at the moment (got to keep up appearances with parents, friends, family here in the Bay Area) so I'm actually painfully clean, but I'm sick.

And can't wait to get back home. It's amazing how much blood returns to flow in some veins after only a short a time as a week. I can't wait. Just 3 more days...

Of course, I could stay clean, but then I lose all my cool druggie friends and lifestyle...

I'm from Connecticut out here in the middle of bum fuck Oregon just got here yesterday. I need some dope and pins badly!! I have no idea how to find heroin here and no idea about this Mexican tar shit. Back home we get dope in powder form. I have two OC 80's left please help me....text me if you can help.2038689806

I lived in portland for two years. I have put alot of that dope into my arm. Hooper detox is where I came off of all the cocaine/heroin and I have been clean since. Portland Does has some very high quality heroin, and Portland has some shitty dope on the streets too. I have been out of the scene for a bit less than a year, but i doubt it has changed much. Depending on who you bought from, bags were 10-15, sometimes 20. The Honduran dope was the tarry shit, where as the dope I was scoring from a few of the white dealers was what we called 'gunpowder', this shit came as a lighter brown powder in the bag, but then turned sticky when breathed on. The gunpowder was always quite potent. And as for the idiots posting their phone numbers on here... are you f-ing serious? If you are not the law, you are mighty stupid.

And for the comment from Bn Swiss! You think the crappy sh¿T comes from mexico?? U must be new to this or have sucky connects! I no some1 who gets from a "HISPaNIc" an it does come "MEXICO" an what the dude in the earlier post referred to as gun powder I've never heard that b4 but it comes in brown powder an when it gets warm turns in to the tarry stuff or when u breath on it. It doesn't have all that extra vinager and bbq sauce that's what I call it. In it. Also I went about 10miles to get from a totally diff. Person when my ppl. Were out and it WAS a "Mexican" and that stuff was like SLUDGE! Really dark it gave me a slight buzz then when away! Got nothing but a FAT headache!! So the moral of my story is= u can get from the same race and get bad stuff!! U just gotta find the rite person or connect!!

my brother in law, 28 years old died in portland in near transient camp over the weekend. It was near the tracks under a bridge on the williamette river. Trying to piece together what happened. He was clean for 3 months, but the medical examiner said he had a fresh track mark on his arm. I dont think it was a suicide, is there some really potent high quality shit out there ? Anybody got any info, this happened late this past friday night

The stuff you breath on and it melts we referred to as blow dope. Portland has some REALLY good tar, but you need to know where to cop. I don't know why you're getting 8 balloons for $100, when you can usually get like 12. Someones taking their cut apparently. There was some REALLY black tar that went around Longview Wa in the late 90's that was PHENOMENAL. This wasn't brown, it was black, like road tar and like taffy. People were dropping like flies. I've also had shit off the streets in PDX that was cut with sugar, but if you're buying from a Mexican, the last time I copped it was pretty stellar dope. The shit that cooks up really cloudy and has little floaters on it is always good. I've had the gunpowder dope too, and this stuff that was light tan and like mud, we called it baby shit, but it was good (nothing was as good as the black tar though. I've only had that for about a week straight, back when I was smoking it, before I started shooting it, it was almost medicinal tasting, you could smoke like 5 hits off foil; and be loaded. Too bad I hadn't started shooting it then, but I could still see the strength and the people drooling on themselves that just shot a point of a gram. By the way, I grew up in NJ, I copped white dope in Asbury Park and am a lifelong junkie, have been on methadone for 10 years now. I've copped powder from the Asians in Vancouver BC and it couldn't TOUCH the shit we got in Jersey and NYC, not anywhere close.

post #6 above is mine, dec 5, 2009, oddly enough my birthday... just left portland again and the great fuckin dope... nothing west coast beats portland dope but i havent tried seattle, and i heard the shit goes from mexico to vancouver, and THEN filters down. maybe thats why it gets worse the further south you go... who knows...

anyways, not looking forward to the tar on streets here in sf, but it will keep you well. pretty much need a gram but that's 2-3 100cc rigs full, so works for me... for a day...

heroin has ruined me... i'm actually about 2 weeks clean now, but it's situational... the first chance i get i will be getting some heroin... it truly is better than sex, and i only dream of overdosing (my tolerance is high naturally; with 2 weeks clean a gram would be nice, but i wouldn;t consider myself high)... unless it was a matchhead of true #4, in which case, i would be on cloud 99...
