Pass the Champagne, Gordon Smith

Posted by Amy J. Ruiz on Thu, Oct 16, 2008 at 10:04 AM

I don't think this political ad works--it's supposed to make me vote for Jeff Merkley, but instead it makes me want to hang out with Gordon Smith. I mean, the ad opens by saying "Gordon Smith sure knows how to throw a party!"

And while I don't want "the guys from Wall Street," George Bush, or "oil executives" to run the country, I do want to put on a fancy dress and sip champagne. Plus, Smith sends out embossed invitations! He's classy. I'd RSVP yes.

Starting with the Democratic primaries against Steve Novick, the first two words out of Jeff Merkley's mouth are always his opponent's name. Try running on your own merit sometime instead of the "That guy sucks ps George Bush" platform.

To paraphrase Barack Obama, your attacks say more about your campaign than they do about Gordon Smith.
