The State of Mind Ticker and Early Leads

Posted by Patrick Alan Coleman on Tue, Nov 4, 2008 at 3:55 PM

NYTimes.com not only has some amazing bloggers keeping an eye on the network coverage--a recent posting quotes Dan Rather, telling his staff "It's very important not to have a mental mindset that this is a big night for Barack Obama."--but they also have a pretty fucking cool state-of-mind-ticker-thingy.

The way it works: you type in how you feel (or select a word whisking by that describes how you feel) and it is either added or amplified in the ticker. The best part is that you can change your word hourly, and toggle between the words from McCain supports and words from Obama supporters.

This is what it looks like, with McCain supporters in red (appropriate somehow) and Obama's in blue:

After looking at it for a bit, it seems like most of the McCain supporters are feeling emotionally tenuous. I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high.

But NYTimes is reporting Obama with an early lead in Indiana and McCain with an early lead in Kentuky
