As a kid, I read the crap out of Highlights For Children (that kids' magazine you can still find at your dentist's office), and I must confess I've stolen many of their ideas over the years for use in the Mercury. (In fact, one of our now famous Halloween "Dress Up" issues was a fond tip o' the hat to this wonderful mag. Check out some of my fave articles here, here and here!)

The reason I bring this up is because the REAL Highlights for Children has launched a new site called "I Was a Highlights Kid" that features stories from former readers (including Freakonomics author Stephen J. Dubner), and a great quiz called "Are You More Like Goofus or Gallant?" Here's a couple of questions from the quiz.

WHEN AT HOME AND THIRSTY FOR SOME WATER...

I use a clean glass.
I lean over and avail myself of the faucet.

WHAT DO YOU USE TO SHOOT AT BIRDS?

A bb gun.
A camera.

Perhaps unsurprisingly my score said I was only 60% Gallant.
