NERD ALERT. Picture of the Enterprise Emerges Online; Trekkies Wet Themselves.

Posted by Erik Henriksen on Tue, Nov 11, 2008 at 8:00 PM

One of the big questions about J.J. Abrams' reboot of Star Trek has been what the Enterprise would look like in the film. Now Entertainment Weekly--which might as well rename itself The Official Star Trek Magazine, considering all the free PR they've been giving Paramount--has the first image of the ship.

Yep. That's the Enterprise, alright! Huh. Anyway, sounds like keeping close to the original ship's design was the point, according to Abrams:

If you're going to do Star Trek there are many things you cannot change. The Enterprise is a visual touchstone for so many people. So if you're going to do the Enterprise, it better look like the Enterprise, because otherwise, what are you doing?

Yeah, J.J.! That's exactly what I said when I wrote my "mature readers" fanfic about what would happen if Kira Nerys met Seven of Nine and they both decided they needed some private counseling sessions from Deanna Troi!

Um... ANYWAY, we're gonna see a whole lot more of Star Trek come Friday, when the first trailer for the film hits theaters with Quantum of Solace. The trailer should be online no later than Monday--but if you can't wait until then, AICN has a spy report of the trailer. Yes. A leaked synopsis of the trailer. What can I say? Trekkies are excitable. The gentleman below, for example, is stoked out of his motherfucking mind. He does not know what to do with himself. That's hilarious coming from someone with the audacity to make Spock's mom Vulcan and his dad human.
