Hello, 2010

Posted by Amy J. Ruiz on Thu, Nov 13, 2008 at 1:03 PM

We might have to fire up the "Election 2010" tag soon: The Democratic Party of Oregon just launched their opening bid against a possible Allen Alley run for Governor. The thing is, Alley--whom we endorsed when he ran for State Treasurer this year, a race he lost--hasn't announced a gubernatorial run.

But I guess it's never too early to start campaigning against him? From the DPO:

Hello, My Name Is Allen Alley. I Support President Bush, Sent Jobs Overseas And Ran My Company Into The Ground. Can I Have Your Vote For Governor?

Portland - The Republican State Treasurer candidate who sent jobs overseas, led his company into financial ruin and made an election year sprint from his deep ties to President Bush is now contemplating a run for Oregon's top office.

"Former state treasurer candidate Allen Alley (R-Lake Oswego) did not rule out a run for governor in 2010 in an interview with PolitickerOR.com shortly after the election."
(Politicker OR, 11-11-08)

So, how will Alley market himself to Oregon's voters?

"When Allen Alley knocks on a voter's door what will his campaign message be?" asked DPO Chair Meredith Wood Smith. "That he supports President Bush, sent jobs overseas and during his decade long leadership of Pixelworks made a profit in only one year? Oregonians aren't willing to hand over the most powerful job in state government to someone who's governing philosophy is outsource jobs, support President Bush and mismanage your company so woefully, its threatened with delisting from NASDAQ. Oregonians don't need Allen Alley's Bushonomics philosophy."
