The Sarah Palin Turkey Slaughter

Posted by Wm.™ Steven Humphrey on Fri, Nov 21, 2008 at 12:46 PM

Do you ever say to yourself, "Sure, I'd love to watch a Sarah Palin interview AND a turkey slaughter... but who has time?" Well, your dreams have been answered in this almost too hilarious/disturbing to be true video of Sarah Palin being interviewed in Alaska while live turkeys are being decapitated in the background. There is so much unintentional horror here... including the fact that live turkeys are right next to the Toms who are getting decapitated! And the expression on the turkey guy's face! And Sarah Palin saying stuff like "being in a good position" and "right now we need some levity" at the moment of decapitation... and... and... it's almost too much!!

The camera person (obviously NOT a Palin staffer) was a genius for framing the interview the way he did. Moving 10 or 15 degrees to the right would have changed the shot entirely.

I had nightmares last night over this. I am so shocked that this woman could stand there while this was going on. The vast majority of human beings would be mortified. For her it seemed to be little more than a walk in the park. She was so much more concerned about the "brutal" treatment by the media (ironically at the very moment she was expressing her concern about the brutal treatment by the media, one of the turkeys was slaughtered). It's shockingly sad and makes me wonder about humanity. My hope is that after that, more people will look more closely at a vegetarian diet as an option. Sibylle Faye from http://www.avianweb.com
