Reading The Cops' Blog

Posted by Matt Davis on Wed, Dec 17, 2008 at 5:16 PM

As far as I'm aware, the Portland Police Bureau is yet to institute a cops' blog. I would like to see some kind of online extension of the union's Rap Sheet paper develop, because I think there's only so long that a group of people can maintain the level of vitriol and acid one often encounters in that newspaper before they develop a meaningful and optimistic dialog with their readers. And of course, that's what the internet is all about...but...

There's a national website called Police Link which features stories that are of interest to police officers. And there are 182 comments so far on the story about Portland lawyer Eric Bryant issuing a second parking ticket to Officer Chadd Stensgaard.

Not all the comments are pro-cop, not all are anti-cop. But there's a lively discussion, and since I've spent twenty minutes enjoying it, I thought you might like to go over and take a look, too.

Wow! What a goldmine! When you look at the comments click on the names of the authors. You are then brought to their personal little mini sorta facebook site.

For instance: FedCop4372 - just click on http://www.policelink.com/member/FedCop437… and see his real name and where he works and what he thinks of the people of Portland. Maybe the VA should reconsider who they are hiring?
