Jon Raymond at Powell's on Thursday

Posted by Marjorie Skinner on Mon, Jan 5, 2009 at 10:27 AM

Jon Raymond's book of short stories, Livability, is poised to be the next Different Seasons. Released late last month, two of the stories have already been made into films by Kelly Reichardt: Old Joy and Wendy and Lucy. If you loved the patient beauty of the former and enjoyed languishing in the throes of agony inflicted by the latter, now you can dig deeper into the characters and stories they were built on. Look for Alison Hallett's review of the collection coming in the next issue of the Merc, and peep the author himself at a reading at Powell's downtown this Thursday at 7:30 pm.

According to additional information about the short story version of Wendy & Lucy I've attained from Alison via ichat, I've decided it has a happy ending after all.
