Eff You, Bride Wars

Posted by Marjorie Skinner on Fri, Jan 9, 2009 at 3:49 PM

I was legitimately excited to attend a screening of Bride Wars last night, cheerfully driving out to Tigard in the traffic and rain, a seriously SAD-afflicted girlfriend in tow, hoping that some dumb-but-fun chick flick brain candy would do us both some good.

I was wrong.

My palms were actually sweating with anger when I wrote my review this morning (the studio sheepishly screened it after our print deadline, so it's a web exclusive). Hit the link for more on my hatred and disappointment, and know that the trailer is basically all you need to see. Then just close your eyes, turn off your imagination, and think of the least creative ways there are to fill in the blanks, and the rest of the film will be revealed to you, at a $0 ticket price.

They really are as stupid as they look, apparently.

I am just relieved that your first issue of the year contains not one bad word - or any word at all - about Jennifer Aniston. It was time for a fresh start. How about some investigative journalism about why "Management," with Woody Harrelson, filmed partly in Southeast Portland's Lone Fir Cemetery in 2007, still has not been released?

Anything associated with the wedding industrial complex is to be avoided.
