George Takei Presents an Important Message About How to Pronounce "George Takei."

Last week, I posted an interview with George Takei—and in doing so, I promised that this week, there would be "an amazing audio clip" to go along with it. Here it is.

A bit of context: This exchange occurred before the interview even officially started, when the woman running the call-in interview thing was introducing Takei and telling interviewers how to participate in the thing. So the following dialogue happened before anyone was even allowed to ask any questions—yet it was easily the highlight of the interview, and... perhaps... of my life.

I don't know what else to say about it—other than that for reasons I can't quite explain, I've found myself unable to stop listening to this. It's been days now, and I just keep listening and listening to it, over and over. There is something... hypnotic about it. Something... magical.

First, George Takei has the most awesome voice ever.

Second, no wonder she couldn't say his name. She also says he worked on "Star TRACK." Drives me nuts.

That was great. And considering that he's probably had to correct tons of people in his life, he has a lot of patience and humor.

I wish George was my dad. He is so awesome.

"Do you speak italian?"
"Do you speak spanish?"

Lulz all around.

I could happily listen to George Takei reading names out of the phone book or definitions from the dictionary.
