Whatever Shall I Eat During This "Superior Bowl"

I understand that there is something of a large sporting event on television this Sunday. Apparently it's a bit like rugby except with more whining, stopping for juice, and ass patting.

My cohorts, of course, are begging me to throw an opulent party at my West Hills mansion (which means my high definition plasma television will be wasted on this brutal contest rather than making the glories of Masterpiece Theater's Wuthering Heights more glorious). The problem is that I have no idea what to serve.

My initial impulse to provide cucumber sandwiches and sparkling wine has been poo-pooed by a few of my fellows, so now I am at a total loss. I therefore turn to you, gentle men and women of Blogtown. What will you be serving or eating during this the most auspicious of bowls?

@themme

They're as good as they look. I've had them a few times...Everyone should be on the cupcake of the month club, anyway.

The StupidBowl is the one time of year when I allow myself to eat large quantities of melted velveeta. I recommend mixing half a log with a can of Ro-tel and eating with chips.

I brought stuffed mushrooms to a superbowl party once. People laughed at first, but they forgave me once they tried them.

@ Miguel - aw, that's ok! We're gonna be eating like hi-brow posh types. German posh types.

@ Jessica - while that natural fancy nacho cheese sauce would be far superior, that would mean missing my one and only shot of getting some nasty chemicals in my system, and it sorely needs it, what with all the healthy whole food i eat all year.

Having played Rugy Union and American Football, the two sports have very little in common anymore. The athletes are bigger and faster in American Football and of course there is this thing called the forward pass as well.

As for eats and treats, I serve up a mighty fine Gumbo that everyone loves. I also do lots and lots of popcorn topped with furikake and a little wasabi powder.
