All Quiet on the Western (Trade) Front

Look how sad Vince Carter is. Hell, you'd be frowning too if you had to spend the rest of your career in New Jersey, instead of—oh, I don't know—Portland.

The NBA trade deadline that once promised an explosive deal for the Portland Trail Blazers—thanks to the mighty RLEC—went out with a whimper. The lone deal the Blazers made was shipping off Ike Diogu in exchange for Michael Ruffin (a player whose teeth might raise the entire team's dental co-pay). Technically, there still could be a deal—the deadline just passed minutes ago, but sometimes these things leak out a few hours later—but I wouldn't recommend holding your breath. Sorry Vinsanity, it just was not meant to be.

Now Portland gets to wipe away the RLEC money from their books—nothing is as exciting as corporate number crunching—which is fine and all, it's just not as sexy as a blockbuster trade that brings new players to town.

Sigh.

Damn, and I was hoping that we could get rid of Sergio 'Senor Turnover' Rodriguez.

well, that was a big nothing. I'm okay with it, though.

Just last Friday on The Game, some name from the Blazers said, "80% chance of a trade."

Yeah, that sure would suck, being right outside of NYC with loads of cash, instead of being in, say, Portland.

You're right Jake, it would suck. Glad we agree on this.
