RACIAL PROFILING AND THE SECRET LIST!!! Oregon Action Executive Director Jo Ann Bowman sees a "disconnect" between the cops' new plan to address racial profiling and the fact that 67% of people on the downtown secret list happen to be African American. Not to mention the cops' "operation cool down," which was supposed to be a temporary effort to reduce gang activity. Make that a tempermanent effort.

PUBLIC RECORDS IN WASHINGTON THREATENED!!! Citing a convicted pyromaniac who filed more than 800 public records requests from prison, some politicians in Washington state want to make it tougher for the public to access government records, writes Wendy Culverwell at the SPJ blog.

CONDOS FOR AFRICA!!! Skeptic Alan Cordle tracks the development of "Tanzamook," a North Portland condo development with some proceeds going to Africa, over at his blog.

ART MERGER!!! Port has more on the planned merger between the Museum of Contemporary Craft and the Portland Northwest College of Art, based on conversations with directors of the two institutions. "From a PR standpoint PNCA needs to look like its riding to the museum's rescue (because it is)..." says Port.

Yeah, those aren't kids. It's just the lady in the Chown who dresses her dachshund in sweaters and wears him in a baby bjorn.
