How Do You Feel about Council's 12-Lane Bridge Decision?

Posted by Wm.™ Steven Humphrey on Thu, Feb 26, 2009 at 11:58 AM

As reported yesterday, Portland city council voted 4-1 (with Amanda Fritz voting against) to accept a 12-lane bridge across the Columbia River—admitting that environmental studies that could affect such a decision would have to wait. Naturally this is not sitting well with local progressive groups (we're on the horn with them right now, and will be blogging soon regarding their opinions), but how are YOU feeling about it? Sounds like a lunchtime poll to me!

How Do You Feel about Council's 12-Lane Bridge Decision?

Maybe if those Poop Groupies from Vancouver got jobs in their own state and stopped clogging up our freeways all the way Lake Assweego at 2:30 everyday we wouldn't need a 12 lane bridge!

I think there should be an option here that has little to do with Sam, simply stating: Building 12 lane bridge was a good idea in the long run.

Does the mercury know that these polls don't even come close to covering the possible range of opinions on these issues?

In response to Marq, I find it interesting the amount of bile that "progressive" "tolerant" Portlanders heap on suburbanites. Many people move their families to places like Vancouver or Gresham because they can't afford to live here.

And I love the "they're takin our jobs!" refrain. Don't you all watch South Park?

I think we should just fill-in the Columbia between WA and OR so that we can all walk, hike, and bike wherever we want.

Andrew: No, that isn't one of the options in this poll. People that feel that way should go read the Colombian or something.

I say we wait until this behemoth is built, then we block it off and have a battle to the death with Vantucky. No Vantuckians, NO MERCY!

Blabby, there are plenty of suburbs in Oregon that I don't hate on. And who said shit about being progressive and tolerant. Not me, nor did I say anything about them taking our jobs. It them taking up all of I5 N that annoys me. I don't understand why we don't have more affordable commuter trains like the east coast.

Sorry Marq, I was conflating your comments with some from an earler post. My mistake. We'll see if anyone up there chooses to take the train. They'll have the choice.

"They're takin' our jorbs!"

Garrett's idea has the most cinematic merit...
