This Week's Adams Protesters...

Posted by Matt Davis on Thu, Feb 26, 2009 at 9:45 AM

Four more protesters used the slots for 3-minute open testimony in council yesterday to make the case against Mayor Sam Adams, over the Breedlove scandal. You can watch their testimony on Youtube here and here.

In the first clip: Gaye Harris said Adams had hurt the reputation of gays and lesbians. Larry Crowley spoke about trying to explain the scandal to his grandson. In the second clip: Annette Smith Levy pressured Adams' fellow city commissioners to take the lead on the issue. "You feel like you're above the fray," she said. Richard Hall said the mayor would not leave a hole in city council if he resigned, encouraging Adams to "stick your hand in a bucket of water, then withdraw your hand, and see what kind of hole you leave."

To date no one has used the comment period to speak in support of Adams.

We urge Portland Metro residents to call the City Clerk at 503-823-4086 and sign up to speak during the comment period. You can sign up to speak up to 2 months in advance.

The Recall effort is not in any way coordinating people to speak at city hall.

Hey Jason, it's going to suck when your recall effort is an epic fail won't it?

Don't be so confident Garrett: Sam Adams got what, 58% of the vote? Given the ongoing revolt by the cycling community over the CRC, I don't think it's a stretch to say that 8% of the voting public have changed their minds on him. Given those stats I think it's very realistic to assume that he's toast, in fact.

"The Recall effort is not in any way coordinating people to speak at city hall."

That almost sounds like some kind of quasi-legal disclaimer.

One thing the recall campaign _has_ been organizing is the acquisition of its own domain name, which they registered the day _before_ Sam even gave his big press conference. In other words, the Recall campaign rushed to judgement in just few short hours from the initial scandal news breaking.

We still don't know who was behind that rush effort, because the domain name was registered behind an anonymity service. Why is the Recall Sam campaign hiding the name of one of its earliest organizers?

Is it an effort to hide behind-the-scenes "coordination" that is being denied in public?

The Recall Sam campaign has also gleaned public records and posted the names of Sam Adams supporters during the primary -- people who were supporters before this scandal news broke. Will the Recall Sam people similarly post the names of their own supporters?

Just asking.

Jasun, you are assuming that the 34% who voted for Dozono are all going to vote to recall. That is totally implausible and makes you look silly.
