Once Again, Stereotypical Fetish Saves Japan

Posted by Earnest "Nex" Cavalli on Sun, Mar 8, 2009 at 10:18 PM

I just finished writing The Merc's Resident Evil 5 review, and it got me thinking about the cultural differences that define the way Americans and their Japanese brethren view hordes of shambling undead.

Whereas Americans see resurrected corpses as either a thinly veiled dissection of the looming Communist threat or a good excuse to grow a freaky beard and buy a flamethrower, the Japanese see things a bit differently.

(Hit the jump for a video that is only NSFW if your boss hates scary chainsaw violence.)

If this video is to be believed — and when has claymation ever lied to you before? — the only line of defense the Empire has against the impending zombie apocalypse is its legions of subservient maids.

And you thought they were simply living representations of the country's repressed sexuality.
