I've blogged about director Neill Blomkamp before, due to his astounding short films and his commercials for Halo 3. Long story short, dude's a South African-born director who makes some insanely smart, creepy, and original shorts; Peter Jackson once hired him direct a Halo movie; the Halo movie fell apart; now, Blomkamp's feature debut will be District 9, which comes out in August. The trailer went online today, and holy shit. It's YouTubed below, and HD is here.
District 9 looks to be based on my favorite of Blomkamp's shorts, Alive in Joburg—which if you haven't already seen, you need to watch immediately.

Drawing on the immigration problems in his home country. Slick. Stick with what you know. The real life issues of immigration and discrimination and violence against immigrants in South Africa are very interesting, too. Been following them on the BBC.
