It's right here.

The film's currently scheduled to open October 16.

Thoughts?

The first 30 seconds are the worst. It's all uphill from there.

There's an article at Esquire detailing how marketing is blatantly going for the bait n switch. Sell you "I Am Legend." Deliver unto you "The Road."

Also, OMAR UP IN THAT MUHFUCKA.

@ Fatboy: Yeah, I kinda sensed that from the trailer. I mean, if they were going for accurate taglines, they'd have had to use, "Get ready for two hours of soul-draining misery and pitch-black nihilism! And cannibals!" Not exactly the sort of thing that's gonna put asses in the seats.

It's always foolhardy to judge a movie based on its trailer, but this one did seem more odd than most--I had a bit of a cognitive disconnect with all the action and larger scope of it all, frankly. But based on The Proposition alone, I have enormous faith in Hillcoat to pull this thing off, despite whatever dumbass marketing tactics the studio's having to resort to in order to sell it to moviegoers.

This trailer kind of blows, but everything I heard has been very positive. Everything in the trailer is right out of the book so we'll see. Loved the Proposition.

I heard they replaced the BBQ babies with an Angry Whopper. Product placement and all that.

The trailer is wrong. Unless, did I miss the Bad Boys II jump cuts and explosions in the book?

I still think there's a great movie lurking behind that roided out trailer though.

I can't watch the trailer from my phone but you guys have me worried now. I loved the book and have high hopes for the film. At any rate, it's nice there's finally a release date!

I just tried looking for the trailer on YouTube and the only thing that comes up is a homemade one that combines Fallout 3 footage with that kickass "Lux Aeterna" score they use in everything now.

Um, I checked, and my copy of The Road doesn't show signs of having had any pages torn out. So I'm wondering how I could have missed all those scenes involving someone playable by Charlize Theron? I mean, I like looking at Charlize Theron as much as the next guy, but that character's presence was pretty slight in the book -- for starters, she was portrayed-by-Aragorn's *memories* by the time the book's narrative got going. Yes? So why is she in so many scenes in the trailer?

Maybe this is the "romantic comedy" trailer -- its clips selected purposely to precede the next piece of shit with Kate Hudson and/or Matthew McMacMcHonaghey and pull in the audience eager to see "How to Lose a Guy in a Post-Apocalypse"?

I kind of wish the trailer would've used Cliff Martinez's score from Solaris in the similar fashion that the District 9 trailer did. So much more haunting and fitting. This just seems like a trailer one of the Weinstein scissor brother's put together after much debating and testing. I'd imagine there was a contractual clause not allowing John Hillcoat the ability to cut his own trailer.
