Doughnut Socks

Posted by Patrick Alan Coleman on Fri, May 22, 2009 at 11:26 AM

I'm not exactly sure what the hell is going on in this video. All I know is that it has something to do with a little girl who has eaten too many sweets... And then she puts a doughnut on her foot and it magically transforms into a sock.

Speaking of doughnuts. Have you seen our Doughnut Roundup in this week's food section? Is there anyplace awesome we missed?

Aside from Moody's, Sesame Doughnut is the only place I'll go.

@NO

Where is Sesame Doughnut? Also, I'd be curious to get your take on ACME if you're in the neighborhood and hankering for a doughnut.

Sesame is deep, deep southwest: 6990 SW Beaverton-Hillsdale Hwy. Worth the trip.

I haven't tried ACME yet, but am curious. I'm actually out of state until late June, but would love to go food excursing with you. I'll drop an email when I'm back.

If you're ever down in Gladstone, the "Heavenly Donuts" on 99 that used to be a Winchells is really solid, too, or at least was when it opened last fall.

@A_CAT, that means you're going to miss the Voltron experience when Kiala is in town for the next "Trivia Night of Drinks Too Many".

There's also a Heavenly/formerly Winchells place on N. Lombard at Denver (though I haven't been there and can't vouch for it).

God damn it... I thought I had until August. Bring some awesomeness on my behalf.

I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw that you missed Tonalli's Ice Cream and Doughnuts on Alberta. That place rules!

@nickeyrobo

Didn't miss it, just had to cut it for the print edition. It's live on the web.

I second the Sesame Doughnut recommendation. Especially their sesame doughnut.

Donut Queen on E Burnside at 59th. No décor or charm aside from the sweet employees, yummy donuts, hot coffee. Raised glazed very similar to VooDoo (as opposed to smaller, sweeter Krispy Kreme style). They have boxes of 9 if you can't commit to a dozen...where has that been all my life?!

Sesame Doughnut is pretty great, if you find yourself in that part of the world. I don't know if its still the case, but they used to have crazy late hours as well.

Sesame doesn't close. Ever.

Sesame Doughnut is excellent. Also, the cinnamon-sugar doughnut at Fleur de Lis Bakery is out of this world. I've never had better, except at Moody's.
