Like the first robin of spring, I spotted my first governor's race sticker through some West Hills shrubbery this weekend, officially marking the arrival of the 2010 campaign season.

Allen Alley lost the treasurer's race this past November by only six percentage points (and impressed us enough to snag our endorsement for the seat) and launched his governor's campaign in February - he made the announcement on, yes indeed, his Twitter account.

Alley struck me as a smart and politically balanced guy, but seeing the first campaign sticker in the West Hills? That leaves me with a queasy Republican-stereotype impression. in any case, I'll be looking forward to devouring his Twitter posts for the next 17 months. Alley gives Randy Leonard tough competition in the race that really matters - best Twittering Oregon politician.
