The Single Most Important Story You Will Read In Your Entire Life! (Which Isn't Going to Last Much Longer, By the Way)

In this week's column on the Street Access For Everyone committee I wrote:
Having covered these discussions for three years I felt a nostalgic sense of déjà vu during much of the meeting, except for the welcome addition of Hotlips pizza on the taxpayers' dime.
One correction to your Hall Monitor article that I wanted to point out is that Commissioner Fritz bought the pizza, not the taxpayers.
WHAT?! You're telling me that the Commissioner paid for that pizza out of her own pocket?! Seriously!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??
Yes, she paid every dime of it.
How much was it?! I want to blog about this, instantly! And WHY?!
WHY WOULD SHE DO THAT?!
IT'S SO....INVOLVED...LIKE SHE CARES ABOUT THE PROCESS, OR SOMETHING!!!
Where was Nick Fish's fish'n'chips? That's what I'd like to know...
She does care about the process (as if you didn't already know that!)
As a matter of course, Commissioner Fritz occasionally pays for items that could be charged to the City.
Commissioner: Thanks. But please tell me, next time you're buying my dinner, so that I can refuse it with the dignity and poise you have come to expect. I just hope word doesn't get out to your colleagues and you end up getting stuck with the bill for the "extras" out of the city attorney's office this summer.

You know, I really like Fritz for a couple of reasons: 1. She's ethical and at least (ah-hem and unlike two other Council members - not you Fish - at least listens to her constituents)
2. She actually bothers to read emails people send her and always replies promptly.
I think Fritz is gonna be Council's dark horse. Right now she's playing nice, just a newbie trying to get along with everyone and is soaking it all in. However, I saw her in action in her old role before the election when she whooped ass on a certain neighborhood association.
Fritz is indeed a bad ass. You'll see. She'll get ticked and fed up at some point, and then Leonard and Adams had better watch out.
Just sayin'
remember when you were in grade school and there was a kid that you never even noticed until suddenly you realized she was really smart, unique and refreshingly odd -- amanda fritz is that kid... a true Portland original, i lover her style
Geez, Matt. For a skinny little english dude you sure can snarf the free pizza.
Btw, yes, Amanda Fritz is awesome.
Journalists like free food. Though I would suggest you not accept it no matter who pays for it.

You know what real journalists like more than free food? (And yes, when I say real journalists, that does include Matt Davis) The sweet taste of justice! Not sure where I'm going with this, but it seemed like it'd be a fun thing to say.
Beware: This is precisely how the whole Ruiz patronage scam began.
Yes, quite generous of Amanda.
Call me crazy, but I kind of prefer that public funds not be used to buy your pizza.
