Pride! You're finally here. We've been waiting.

Some last-moment news and reminders as you get all rainbow-geared-up for the weekend ahead:

1) The weather's looking overcast and perhaps a tad rainy. Never fear, queers: the Portland Pride parade is going onward, rain or shine. It steps off this Sunday, 11 am from the North Park Blocks: check out Pride NW's parade map online here; for our other best bets for the Pride weekend, check out Kamala Puligandla's top picks here.

2) Big props to doyenne of drag Darcelle XV, who was recently honored as one of "40 Stonewall Trans Heroes" by the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force (alongside the likes of RuPaul, San Diego City Commissioner Nicole Murray Ramirez, Lady Bunny and Chi Chi LaRue, no less!). Darcelle's name will be inscribed on a plaque commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall riots in NYC; the plaque will go up in the New York Public Library later this month. Rock on, Darcelle!

3) There's turmoil over at id magazine, the new "LGBTIQ community magazine" founded earlier this spring by local business owner Christian Messer. As first reported here, the mag was birthed last month amidst a burst of cross-town rivalry with other gay publications, but is now hitting its own choppy waters: founding editor-in-chief West Duncan has quit the publication, citing non-payment of wages.

"He hasn't paid me in three months," Duncan said by phone earlier this afternoon of publisher Messer, adding that the missing paychecks might force her into eviction from her current home. Duncan said she was considering living in her truck or moving to Oregon campgrounds while she figures out her next job opportunity and how to claim the wages owed her.

"I don't know how it can continue without me," Duncan says of the magazine. Messer has not yet responded to an e-mail seeking comment.
