Breaking: Adams Wrote Resignation Letter

Posted by Matt Davis on Mon, Jun 22, 2009 at 4:10 PM

To clarify: He hasn't actually resigned. This is a letter that was found on Adams' laptop by the Attorney General's investigators, and has been released to the public this afternoon. It's not clear when Adams wrote the letter exactly, but it looks like it was written shortly before Adams delivered his press conference saying he was sorry, but that he intended to stay on. The letter was never actually read, but the fact that Adams had written it shows how close he may have come to actually resigning.

It's like an alternate universe. Like where Spock has a goatee.

It's over, done, finito.

Everyone here knows that the republicans will force it onto the ballot and the city will overwhelmingly turn it down.

And everyone knows that the real tangible mistake Adams made will be staring at them everytime they go to Vancouver or make the trek up and down from Seattle.

Unless you like pavement.

I like Pavement. Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain is still an excellent album.

Also, I could give a rip about Sam's sex life.

I do want him to pull it together, stop letting his personal life overshadow his ability to lead, and I want him to help get Portland back on track fiscally from a public finance level, and economically from a citywide level. 'Cause seriously, between increased lay-offs in the City, a horrible unemployment rate in the city, and ongoing morale and management problems inside city hall and the bureaus, as well as the latest MLS/Lents/PGE fiasco, he's failing as a mayor.

Oh, and the super "Central City" URA he's proposing could be the straw that breaks the Mayor's back. Not the "scandal"

Wow. On the other hand, he saved us from "Interim Mayor Randy Leonard."

You think somewhere Erik Sten is sitting on his porch and thinking "Damn, who got the timing? Erik does! Erik does"!
