News Did Adams Confess to Protect Breedlove?

So here's a big question that's been hanging over the Sam Adams scandal: after lying multiple times about having sex with Beau, why the hell did Adams decide to fess up to the WW when he did? Adams' interview with investigators is buried within the report the Attorney General released today and in it, Adams says he made a deal with WW reporter Nigel Jaquiss to go on record about having sex with Breedlove if Jaquiss promised not to reveal Breedlove's felony record.

Because no other reporter can find the public records of Breedlove's felony? If that was the deal, Sam's not too bright.
What delicious irony, considering it's precisely Breedlove's felony that forced Kroger to decline prosecution. I'm still marvelling at the fact that if Adams had been attracted to nearly ANY other man, who had NOT been convicted of theft, we might be talking serious recall today.
