Please allow a brief break in the regularly scheduled sex scandal programming to announce three important bits of news.
For the Children! - Back in March, I reported with some elation that a bill allowing online voter registration in Oregon was rolling forward. Today, pour some champagne for the YouTube-Obama Youth-Hipster generation (that's you. And me.) because the bill passed the Senate! When Washington state passed an online voter reg law, 40 percent of new voters registered online and half were under age 30. The bill now heads to the Governor's desk. via the Bus Project
Diversity Fountain! Yes, indeed, Portland is planning a new diversity fountain! At the new Saturday Market, kids will frolic in the "dancing water jets" of a fountain honoring "Portland’s immigrants with a poem etched into its steps, celebrating the diverse cultural influences that have shaped our city." If there wasn't a prohibition on poetry on Blogtown, I would dare readers to write that poem right now. via Neighborhood Notes
Richard Nixon: An Awful Racist! Whatever Sam Adams did, at least (cross your fingers) audio recordings of his office will never surface to reveal that he said, “There are times when an abortion is necessary. I know that. When you have a black and a white. Or a rape.” Gragh. Let's install a diversity fountain on Nixon's grave so we all have an excuse to dance on it. via Wonkette

whatever the fountain poem says, i just hope it's written in vietnamese, and translated into russian.
Great.. More voter fraud. It couldn't be easier. Register online under someone else's name, showing no ID; use address that you have access to; pick up ballot when it arrives; forge signature; rinse and repeat.
Oh, wait, I forgot -- Democrats don't care about voter fraud. That's how they get people elected. Guess ACORN will be opening up a Portland branch soon.
Good grief, could someone take the word "diversity" out back and shoot it please. We are a country of immigrants, we have been celebrating our diversity for a couple hundred years now, do we really need a "diversity fountain"? Ok, if we do this, can this be the end of it? Can we please knock it off with celebrating and recognizing everyone who is 1/8 Cherokee or whose grandparents came from Palau? Can't we all just be freakin Americans. Is that not good enough anymore?
