Michael Jackson, R.I.P.

Wow.

I guess Sky Saxon's passing isn't the big music death of the day. The brilliant, and troubled, ride of Michael Jackson has come to an end. According to TMZ, Jackson suffered a heart attack while in Los Angeles and passed away shortly after being rushed to a hospital. He was 50 years old.

P.S. I hate trusting TMZ as a source, so we will confirm this once we hear it from someplace more reputable. No, Perez Hilton doesn't count.

3:21 Update:
"CNN sources now say that Michael Jackson is in a coma"

3:25 Update:
CNN: "Both the Los Angeles Times and CBS News is reporting that Michael Jackson has died"

This is nuts. This man is not supposed to die.

Well, not that it's proof, but TMZ was also first, by 15-30 minutes, with the heart attack itself.

b!X, that's true. I still haven't seen anyone—not named Gawker/Drudge/etc—confirm it yet. I'm sure that is coming.

I always wonder about those who grew up after Bad came out. What do they think about him? To only know him in the creepy/Neverland/Bubbles/"Blanket" era must be a totally different experience than it was for those of us who grew up with his music.

The only thing that can make this any worse is if the Blazers don't dump Sergio tonight. Fuuuuck.

"The largely desiccated corpse wore the remains of a red, zipper-covered leather jacket and a single glove. "

Nice find Ezra...

It took Oregonian readers a whole 10 comments before someone mentioned Sam Adams.

Michael Jackson & Jodie Foster are the two performers I feel like I "grew up" with, in the sense that I've known who both of them were since I was a kid and we are all pretty much contemporaries (Jackson slightly older, Foster slightly younger). Just weird that he's gone so suddenly, even if "weird" is the most apt one-word description of his life.

Still ... "Off the Wall" ... kicks butt as hard today as it did when released. His music will endure.

You can never say "too soon" if a celebrity dies. Many jokes sites start to appear. Check this one out: http://michael-jackson-dead-jokes.blogspot…
