Meat processing giant Oscar G. Mayer is dead at the age of 96.

I grew up near the original OM plant in Madison, WI. It made that whole part of town smell like farts.

I grew up there too. Did you ever hear about the run-off into Lake Monona? There were fat globules floating on the lake...dog's got sick trying to eat them....I was never sure if it was an urban myth or for real.

Yea, I remember hearing that stuff. NASTY. I want to believe it was only myth but have a feeling it was true. Maybe that's why I was more of a Lake Mendota guy!
