Remember back in April when I reported the gossip that Bob Stacey is planning a run for Metro president? Back then the 1000 Friends of Oregon Executive Director said he was merely "seeking advice from friends and colleagues" about whether to run for the seat currently held by David Bragdon. Well today it's confirmed on the Secretary of State's website: Bob Stacey has created a candidate committee for a metro prez run.

"I'm gonna be president!" — Bob Stacey.

And hot on the heels of Stacey's filing is another candidate: Duke Shepard, political director of the AFL-CIO, just created a candidate committee to run for a different metro council seat.

Update: Shepard's treasurer Kevin Neely says he's 99.9 percent sure that Shepard is running for the District One seat currently occupied by Rod Park. That seat covers part of East Portland, Troutdale, Fairview and Gresham.
