Anyone Want a Mountain of CDs?

One of the many perks of this job is that people are constantly sending me music. For free. All the time.

But as the years go by, I've been left with an intimidating mountain of promotional CDs. This frightening pile of music has swallowed many a brave intern whole—you need a Sherpa to even dig through it—so it's about time I do something about the teetering plastic death trap looming in my office. Are there any non-profit organizations in Portland that would like an entire library of local music? Rock and Roll Camp for Girls? Ethos?

Keep in mind that we already have our very own local music collection, this auxiliary pile is mostly compiled of extras CDs—for some reason we have six copies of the Dimes' The Silent Generation—and various other releases that have fallen through the cracks over the years. It's a fantastic selection of Portland music, and it would be great if some kindhearted local organization could take it off our hands. Hell, we'll even deliver.

If you are interested, let me know.

End Hits: We also have a slightly-damaged 1971 GE Washer. No trades. You haul.

For once I'm not saying, "Gimme free stuff". Mainly because I no longer own anything that can easily play a CD. People still use physical media? How weird.

I'd check with IPRIC or Multnomah County Library. I do really fucking love the library.

Give 'em to the schools. Or, just post on Craigslist.

How can you give them away? That Dizzee Rascal CD sells for a dollar at just about any CD/Game exchange in town. That stack must be full of nuggets just like that.

the library won't take donations except to sell at title wave. they told me it was "too expensive to render a barcode and catalog every donation."

waypost has a local music drop box.

It's *possible* KLC at Lewis & Clark College could use those. Though, they probably already have them. Might also offer to the radio stations at PSU, UoP, Reed, etc. if they have them.

Also, I personally have 3 copies of that Dimes CD and I know I only ever actually purchased 1.

Forgot about that. I tried to donate a book a friend had written and got the same crapola.

I am intersted in local artists and your CD's! I am the station manager of WSU-Vancouver's Internet radio station KOUG. We could really use these, as we are rebuilding our automated system and want to make it full of local musicians.

Thanks

CDs are where its at. MP3s and the like are too throw-away. If you own the physical media, you're more likely to force yourself to digest whatever's there instead of putting it in the trashbin if it doesn't strike you the first time.
