Another week, another Mercury music section to kill the time before that Jam reunion tour. Wait, does this mean From the Jam is going to break up? Noooooooo!

Hey look, it's our exclusive interview with Jesse Sandoval, former drummer of the Shins. Not only that, you can read our full transcript of the interview right here. It's a compelling and personal discussion, one that shines a light on the difficult nature of band relationships and breakups. Now go to Nuevo Mexico and buy a sopapilla from the man, they are delicious.

Few local releases have me as excited as Apple's Acre, the new LP from Nurses. Remember, tonight is their release show at Holocene and word on the street is that they have a few surprises planned for the show. Pyrotechnics? Ladies dancing in cages? With Snakes? Killer snakes? Yes, probably all these things.
LISTEN:

Nurses - "Technicolor"

Screaming Females are just like your garage band. Well, except for the part where Jack White takes them under his wing, Don Giovanni Records releases their record, and they become perched on the cusp of fame. But other than those things, totally the same.
LISTEN:

Screaming Females - "Bell"

Ripper bring back the cassette demo tape, and artwork of a grinning skull wearing sunglasses. I hope it looks like this guy.
LISTEN:
Remember that cassette part? Well that means no MP3s for you.

Bonus! Our web-only interview with Colin Hay, formerly of Men at Work. He discusses his old band, flying on Ringo Starr's private jet, and Zach Braff's crush on him. The only topic he does not talk about is the lyrics to "Down Under." What does "on a hippie trail, head full of zombie" mean?
LISTEN:

Men at Work - "Who Can it Be Now?"

End Hits: Where beer does flow and men chunder.
